Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Hex wrenches (included)
  • Spanner wrench
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pliers
  • Leveling card or paper

Step-by-Step Assembly

  1. Unbox and Inventory: Carefully unbox all components and verify all parts are present using the included checklist.
  2. Frame Assembly: Assemble the aluminum extrusion frame according to the provided diagrams, ensuring all connections are tight.
  3. Install Z-axis: Mount the Z-axis lead screw and motor, ensuring smooth vertical movement without binding.
  4. Install X-axis: Mount the X-axis gantry with the extruder assembly, checking for proper alignment.
  5. Install Y-axis: Assemble the heated bed and Y-axis movement system on the base frame.
  6. Electronics Installation: Mount the control board and power supply, then connect all motors, sensors, and heating elements.
  7. Bed Leveling: Perform manual bed leveling using the paper method to ensure proper nozzle height across the entire print surface.
  8. Test Run: Run the printer through calibration routines and test prints to verify proper operation.
Warning: Ensure proper electrical connections and grounding. First-time setup should be performed carefully to avoid damage to components.

Key Features

Resume Print Function

Automatically saves print progress in case of power failure, allowing prints to resume from the last layer when power is restored.

Precision V-Slot Wheels

High-quality V-slot aluminum extrusion and POM wheels provide smooth, precise movement on all axes with minimal maintenance.

MK8 Extruder

Reliable MK8 extruder design with precision gear ratio provides consistent filament feeding for high-quality prints.

Removable Build Surface

Magnetic removable build plate allows for easy print removal and flexible surface options for different materials.

Meanwell Power Supply

High-quality Meanwell power supply ensures stable voltage output and improved safety during long printing sessions.

Upgradable Design

Open-source design allows for extensive modifications and upgrades including auto bed leveling, direct drive, and silent boards.

Printing Technology Explained

FDM Technology

Fused Deposition Modeling melts thermoplastic filament and deposits it layer by layer to create 3D objects.

Bowden Extruder

Lightweight print head design reduces moving mass for faster printing speeds and reduced ghosting artifacts.

Heated Bed

Adjustable heated print surface improves first layer adhesion and prevents warping with various filament types.

Manual Leveling

Four-point manual bed leveling system allows precise adjustment of print surface flatness.

Filament Detection

Optional filament runout sensor pauses printing when filament runs out, preventing failed prints.

SD Card Printing

Offline printing capability via SD card allows operation without continuous computer connection.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Printer won't power on Power switch, cable connection, fuse issue Check power switch position, verify cable connections, check fuse
Poor first layer adhesion Bed not level, nozzle too high, dirty bed surface Re-level bed, adjust Z-offset, clean bed with isopropyl alcohol
Extruder clicking/skipping Nozzle clog, extruder tension, printing too cold Clean nozzle, adjust extruder tension, increase hotend temperature
Layer shifting Belt tension, mechanical obstruction, overheating drivers Tighten belts, check for obstructions, improve cooling
Stringing/oozing Retraction settings, printing temperature too high Adjust retraction settings, lower printing temperature
Warped prints Bed temperature, cooling, adhesion issues Increase bed temperature, use enclosure, apply adhesion aids

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Under-extrusion: Check filament diameter settings, extruder calibration, and nozzle for clogs
  • Over-extrusion: Calibrate E-steps, reduce flow rate in slicer settings
  • Ghosting/Ringing: Reduce print speed, tighten belts, check frame rigidity
  • Bed Leveling Issues: Use paper method, adjust all four corners evenly, check for warped bed
  • Thermal Runaway: Check thermistor connections, ensure proper heating element installation
  • SD Card Errors: Format SD card properly, use compatible card size, check card reader connection
