Most Common Issues (FDM Printers)

• Nozzle not extruding / clogging: Heat nozzle to 220–250°C, cold pull with cleaning filament, or perform atomic pull; check PTFE tube wear (common on Bowden setups); replace nozzle if damaged.
• Bed adhesion problems: Clean bed with IPA; level bed (manual or ABL); increase first layer temp/flow; use glue stick/hairspray/PEI sheet; check Z-offset.
• Layer shifting: Tighten belts (X/Y), reduce acceleration/jerk in slicer, check pulley grub screws, lubricate rods (if linear), avoid high speed on heavy prints.
• Stringing / oozing: Lower retraction distance/speed, increase retraction, enable coasting, dry filament, lower print temperature 5–10°C.
• Elephant's foot / first layer squish: Reduce first layer flow %, increase Z-offset slightly, or enable initial layer compensation in slicer.

Resin Printer Specific (SLA/DLP/MSLA)

• Print fails to stick to build plate: Sand plate lightly, level build plate precisely, increase bottom exposure time 20–50%, use heavier supports, check resin temperature (20–30°C ideal).
• Layer lines / delamination: Increase normal exposure time slightly, check FEP film tension/replace if cloudy, reduce lift speed, ensure vat is clean.
• Resin vat leaking / FEP hole: Replace FEP immediately; clean screen protector if present; avoid sharp tools near vat.

Modern High-Speed / CoreXY Models (Bambu, Creality K1, Anycubic Kobra 3, etc. 2024–2026)

• AMS / filament runout issues: Ensure filament feeds smoothly, clean sensors, check spool orientation, update firmware.
• Flow calibration / pressure advance errors: Run auto flow/PA calibration from printer menu; use correct filament profile.
• Screen frozen / touch unresponsive: Power cycle (unplug 30 sec), check for firmware update via SD/USB or app.

General Error Codes & Messages

• Thermal runaway / heating failed: Check thermistor wiring, replace if damaged; ensure heater cartridge secure; clean nozzle/hotend.
• Probe failed / ABL error: Clean nozzle tip before probing, check probe wiring, re-level gantry if adjustable, update firmware.
• Filament sensor error: Clean sensor, ensure filament loaded correctly, disable sensor temporarily if testing (not recommended long-term).

Safety note: Never leave printer unattended during first layers or long prints. Use in well-ventilated area (especially resin). Wear gloves with resin. Unplug before maintenance. Do not touch hot nozzle/bed. Keep children/pets away from moving parts and hot surfaces.
