Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Hex wrenches (included)
  • Spanner wrench
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pliers
  • Leveling gauge

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Unbox and Inventory: Carefully unpack all components and verify all parts are present using the parts checklist.
  2. Frame Assembly: Assemble the aluminum extrusion frame according to the provided diagrams, ensuring all connections are tight.
  3. Install Z-axis: Mount the Z-axis lead screw and motor, ensuring smooth vertical movement without binding.
  4. Install X-axis: Mount the X-axis gantry with the extruder assembly, checking for proper alignment and smooth movement.
  5. Install Y-axis: Assemble the heated bed and Y-axis carriage, ensuring the belt is properly tensioned.
  6. Electrical Connections: Connect all motors, endstops, heated bed, and hotend following the wiring diagram.
  7. Level the Bed: Perform manual bed leveling using the paper method to ensure proper first layer adhesion.
  8. Test Run: Run the printer through initial calibration and test prints to verify proper operation.
Warning: Ensure proper electrical grounding and follow all safety precautions during installation to prevent injury or damage.

Key Features

Resume Print Function

Automatically saves print progress in case of power failure, allowing prints to resume from the last recorded position when power is restored.

Precision V-Slot Wheels

High-precision V-slot aluminum extrusion and POM wheels provide smooth, accurate motion with minimal maintenance requirements.

MK8 Extruder

Reliable MK8 extruder design with improved filament feeding mechanism for consistent extrusion and reduced clogging.

Removable Build Surface

Magnetic removable build plate allows for easy print removal and flexible surface options for different filament types.

Upgradable Design

Open-source design with extensive community support and numerous upgrade options including auto-leveling, silent boards, and direct drive conversions.

Thermal Runaway Protection

Built-in safety feature that monitors hotend and bed temperatures, automatically shutting down if abnormal temperature readings are detected.

Printing Technology Explained

FDM Technology

Fused Deposition Modeling builds objects layer by layer using melted thermoplastic filament

Bowden Extruder

Lightweight print head design with separate extruder motor for faster movement and reduced ghosting

Heated Bed

Temperature-controlled print surface improves adhesion and prevents warping with various materials

Layer Cooling

Dedicated cooling fan improves print quality for overhangs and bridges

Filament Detection

Optional sensor pauses print when filament runs out to prevent failed prints

Community Firmware

Compatible with popular third-party firmware like Marlin and Klipper for enhanced features

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Printer won't start Power issue, mainboard fault, wiring problem Check power supply, inspect mainboard connections, verify wiring
Poor print quality Unlevel bed, incorrect temperature, clogged nozzle Re-level bed, adjust temperature settings, clean or replace nozzle
Filament not extruding Clogged nozzle, extruder gear slipping, incorrect temperature Perform cold pull, check extruder tension, verify temperature settings
Layer shifting Loose belts, mechanical binding, overheating drivers Tighten belts, lubricate rods, check driver cooling
Warped prints Bed not level, insufficient adhesion, cooling too fast Re-level bed, use adhesion aids, adjust cooling settings
Stringing/oozing Temperature too high, retraction settings incorrect Lower temperature, adjust retraction distance and speed

Error Codes

  • E1: Hotend temperature error - Check thermistor and heating cartridge
  • E2: Bed temperature error - Check bed thermistor and heating element
  • E3: Thermal runaway protection - Check all temperature sensors
  • E4: Power supply error - Verify power input and connections
  • E5: Motor driver error - Check stepper motor connections
  • E6: Endstop error - Verify endstop switches are functioning
