Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Hex wrenches (included)
  • Allen keys (included)
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
  • Pliers
  • Spanner

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Unbox and Inventory: Carefully unbox all components and verify all parts are present using the included checklist.
  2. Assemble Frame: Connect the vertical aluminum extrusions to the base frame using the provided screws and brackets.
  3. Install X-Axis: Mount the X-axis gantry to the vertical extrusions, ensuring smooth movement without binding.
  4. Install Print Bed: Attach the heated bed to the Y-axis carriage, ensuring it is level and secure.
  5. Install Extruder: Mount the extruder assembly to the X-axis gantry and connect the Bowden tube.
  6. Electrical Connections: Connect all motors, endstops, and heated bed cables to the main control board.
  7. Level the Bed: Perform manual bed leveling using the paper method to ensure proper first layer adhesion.
  8. Test Run: Power on the printer and run initial calibration tests to verify proper operation.
Warning: Ensure proper electrical grounding and keep the printer on a stable, fire-resistant surface. First-time setup should be done carefully following all instructions.

Key Features

Resume Print Function

Automatically saves print progress. In case of power failure, the printer can resume printing from the last layer, preventing print failures and material waste.

Precision V-Slot Wheels

High-quality V-slot aluminum extrusions with precision POM wheels provide smooth and accurate movement on all axes with minimal maintenance required.

MK8 Extruder

The MK8 extruder design provides consistent filament feeding with minimal clogging, compatible with a wide range of 1.75mm filaments including PLA, ABS, PETG, and TPU.

Carborundum Glass Bed

Ultra-flat carborundum glass build plate provides excellent adhesion while heated and easy release when cooled, ensuring perfect first layers every time.

Meanwell Power Supply

High-quality Meanwell power supply provides stable voltage output, improving print quality and safety with better temperature control and reliability.

Upgradable Design

Open-source design with extensive upgrade options including BLTouch auto-leveling, silent mainboards, direct drive conversion, and enclosure kits.

Printing Technologies Explained

FDM Printing

Fused Deposition Modeling builds objects layer by layer using melted thermoplastic filament

Heated Bed

Prevents warping and improves adhesion for materials like ABS and PETG

Bowden Extruder

Reduces moving mass on X-axis for faster printing speeds and reduced ghosting

Manual Leveling

Four-point manual bed leveling system for precise first layer calibration

Filament Runout Sensor

Optional sensor detects when filament runs out and pauses the print

SD Card Printing

Standalone operation via SD card without computer connection required

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Printer won't power on Power switch off, loose cable, faulty power supply Check power switch, ensure all cables are secure, test outlet
Poor layer adhesion Bed not level, nozzle too high, bed temperature too low Re-level bed, adjust Z-offset, increase bed temperature
Filament not extruding Nozzle clogged, extruder gear slipping, filament jam Clean nozzle, tighten extruder tension, check for filament tangles
Warped prints Bed temperature uneven, cooling too fast, draft in room Increase bed temperature, use enclosure, reduce cooling fan speed
Layer shifting Belt tension loose, stepper current incorrect, mechanical obstruction Tighten belts, check stepper driver current, ensure smooth movement
Stringing/oozing Retraction settings incorrect, temperature too high Increase retraction distance/speed, lower printing temperature

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Elephant's Foot: First layer squished - Lower bed temperature, increase initial layer height
  • Under-extrusion: Weak prints - Increase flow rate, check for nozzle clogs
  • Over-extrusion: Blobby prints - Decrease flow rate, calibrate E-steps
  • Ghosting/Ringing: Surface artifacts - Reduce print speed, tighten belts
  • Bed Adhesion Failure: Print detaches - Clean bed with alcohol, use adhesive
  • Thermal Runaway: Printer stops - Check thermistor connections, update firmware
