Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Hex wrenches (included)
  • Spanner
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pliers
  • Leveling card or paper

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Unpack and Check Components: Carefully unpack all parts and verify all components are present using the parts checklist.
  2. Assemble Frame: Connect the vertical aluminum extrusions to the base frame using the provided screws and tools.
  3. Install X-Axis: Mount the X-axis gantry to the vertical extrusions, ensuring smooth movement.
  4. Install Print Bed: Attach the heated bed to the Y-axis carriage, ensuring it's securely fastened.
  5. Install Extruder Assembly: Mount the hotend and extruder assembly to the X-axis gantry.
  6. Connect Electronics: Connect all motors, endstops, and heated bed cables to the main control board.
  7. Level the Bed: Perform manual bed leveling using the paper method to ensure proper first layer adhesion.
  8. Test Run: Run the printer through a calibration routine to check all axes movement and heating functions.
Warning: Ensure proper electrical connections and keep the printer on a stable, level surface. Always supervise initial prints.

Key Features

Resume Printing Function

Automatically saves print progress in case of power failure, allowing you to resume printing from the last layer once power is restored.

Precision V-Slot Wheels

High-precision V-slot wheels provide smooth and accurate movement on all axes, ensuring consistent print quality and reduced maintenance.

MK8 Extruder

The MK8 extruder design provides reliable filament feeding with minimal clogging, compatible with a wide range of filament materials.

Carborundum Glass Bed

Ultra-flat carborundum glass build plate provides excellent adhesion while printing and easy removal once cooled.

Meanwell Power Supply

High-quality Meanwell power supply ensures stable voltage output and improved safety during long printing sessions.

Upgradable Design

Open-source design allows for extensive modifications and upgrades including auto bed leveling, silent boards, and direct drive conversions.

Printing Materials Compatibility

PLA

Easy to print, low warping, ideal for beginners and general purpose printing

ABS

Durable and heat resistant, requires heated bed and enclosure for best results

PETG

Strong and flexible, combines ease of printing with durability and chemical resistance

TPU

Flexible filament for rubber-like parts, requires careful extrusion settings

Wood Fill

Composite filament containing wood particles, produces wood-like finish and can be sanded

Carbon Fiber

Reinforced filament for extra strength and stiffness, requires hardened nozzle

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Printer won't start Power issue, faulty power supply Check power cable connection, verify power switch position
Poor bed adhesion Unlevel bed, dirty build surface, wrong bed temperature Re-level bed, clean with isopropyl alcohol, adjust bed temperature
Filament not extruding Clogged nozzle, extruder gear slipping, wrong temperature Clean nozzle, check extruder tension, verify temperature settings
Layer shifting Loose belts, mechanical obstruction, overheating drivers Tighten belts, check for obstructions, ensure proper cooling
Stringing/oozing Retraction settings incorrect, temperature too high Adjust retraction distance and speed, lower printing temperature
Warped prints Poor bed adhesion, cooling too fast, draft in room Use adhesion aids, adjust cooling settings, use enclosure

Common Error Messages

  • Thermal Runaway: Heating issue - Check thermistor and heater cartridge connections
  • Heating Failed: Bed or hotend not reaching temperature - Check power connections
  • Filament Runout: Filament sensor triggered - Reload filament or check sensor
  • Axis Homing Failed: Endstop not triggering - Check endstop switch and wiring
  • Max Temp Error: Temperature exceeded safety limit - Check thermistor readings
  • SD Card Error: Card reading issue - Reformat SD card or try different card
