Installation Guide
Tools Needed:
- Allen wrenches (included)
- Spanner wrench
- Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
- Leveling gauge or paper
- Measuring tape
Step-by-Step Leveling Process
- Prepare the Printer: Ensure the printer is on a stable, level surface and all components are properly assembled.
- Home All Axes: Use the control panel to home the X, Y, and Z axes to establish reference points.
- Disable Steppers: Disable stepper motors from the menu to allow free movement of the print head.
- Check Four Corners: Move the print head to each of the four corners of the build plate using manual controls.
- Adjust Bed Screws: Use the bed leveling knobs under the build plate to adjust height at each corner.
- Paper Test: Place a standard piece of paper between the nozzle and bed - you should feel slight resistance when moving the paper.
- Center Check: Move to the center of the bed and verify the gap is consistent with the corners.
- Repeat Process: Repeat steps 4-7 at least twice to ensure proper leveling across the entire bed surface.
- Test Print: Run a bed level test print to visually confirm proper leveling across the entire surface.

Manual Controls
Precise manual movement controls for positioning the nozzle during leveling
Visual Aids
On-screen instructions and visual indicators guide through leveling process
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Poor first layer adhesion | Bed not level, nozzle too high, dirty bed surface | Re-level bed, adjust Z-offset, clean bed with isopropyl alcohol |
| Nozzle scraping bed | Bed too high, incorrect Z-offset, uneven bed | Lower bed corners, adjust Z-offset, check for warped bed |
| Uneven first layer | Bed not properly leveled, warped bed, loose eccentric nuts | Re-level entire bed, check bed flatness, tighten eccentric nuts |
| CR Touch not working | Loose connection, firmware issue, physical obstruction | Check wiring connections, update firmware, ensure probe deploys freely |
| Bed level changes frequently | Loose leveling knobs, worn springs, thermal expansion | Tighten knobs, upgrade springs, level at printing temperature |
| Corners not matching center | Warped bed, incorrect leveling technique, gantry sag | Use mesh leveling, check gantry alignment, adjust dual Z screws |
Common Leveling Issues
- Inconsistent First Layer: Always level bed at printing temperature as metal expands when heated
- Bed Warping: Use glass bed or consider mesh leveling compensation in firmware
- Spring Tension: Ensure all springs are equally compressed to about 70-80% of their length
- Z-offset Calibration: After leveling, fine-tune Z-offset for perfect first layer squish
- Gantry Alignment: Ensure X gantry is parallel to bed by adjusting dual Z screws
- Periodic Maintenance: Re-level bed every 5-10 prints or when changing build surfaces
