3D Printer Calibration

Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • 0.2mm feeler gauge
  • Hex wrench set
  • Leveling card (included)
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Microfiber cloth

Step-by-Step Bed Leveling

  1. Preheat Printer: Preheat bed to 60°C and nozzle to 200°C for accurate leveling.
  2. Auto Home: Navigate to "Auto Home" in the printer menu to position the nozzle.
  3. Disable Steppers: Disable stepper motors to freely move the print head and bed.
  4. Position Nozzle: Manually move the nozzle to the first leveling point (front left corner).
  5. Adjust Bed Screw: Use the leveling card or feeler gauge between nozzle and bed. Adjust the bed wheel until you feel slight resistance.
  6. Repeat for All Corners: Move to front right, back right, and back left corners, repeating the adjustment process.
  7. Center Check: Check the center point of the bed and make minor adjustments if necessary.
  8. Test Print: Run a bed level test print to verify leveling accuracy across the entire surface.
Warning: Always perform bed leveling with the printer at operating temperature. Cold leveling may result in incorrect calibration and failed prints.

Key Features

Magnetic PEI Build Plate

The removable magnetic PEI spring steel plate provides excellent adhesion during printing and easy removal of completed prints without tools.

Direct Drive Extruder

The integrated direct drive extruder provides precise filament control, enabling better printing of flexible materials and reducing stringing.

Dual Z-axis Screws

Dual Z-axis lead screws with timing belt synchronization ensure stable and precise vertical movement, improving print quality and reliability.

Sprite Extruder Pro

The all-metal Sprite extruder supports high-temperature printing up to 260°C, compatible with various filament types including PLA, PETG, and TPU.

CR Touch Auto Leveling

While primarily manual, the V3 SE supports optional CR Touch auto bed leveling for enhanced convenience and consistent first layer results.

High-Speed Printing

Capable of printing speeds up to 250 mm/s with stable motion system and optimized firmware for faster production times.

Bed Leveling Points Explained

Front Left

Starting point for manual leveling sequence, adjust until paper has slight resistance

Front Right

Second adjustment point, maintain consistent resistance across front edge

Back Right

Third adjustment point, check diagonal consistency with front left

Back Left

Fourth adjustment point, complete the square leveling pattern

Center Point

Final verification point, ensure center is properly leveled with corners

Test Print

Print a single-layer test pattern to visually verify leveling across entire bed

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
First layer not sticking Bed not level, nozzle too high, bed not clean Re-level bed, adjust Z-offset, clean bed with isopropyl alcohol
Uneven first layer Bed not properly leveled, warped bed surface Re-level all four corners, use manual mesh leveling if available
Nozzle dragging on print Nozzle too low, over-extrusion Adjust Z-offset higher, calibrate extrusion multiplier
Corner lifting/warping Bed temperature too low, draft in room Increase bed temperature, use enclosure or draft shield
Inconsistent extrusion Clogged nozzle, extruder tension issue Clean or replace nozzle, adjust extruder tension
Layer shifting Belt tension, mechanical obstruction Check and adjust belt tension, ensure smooth movement

Common Leveling Issues

  • Corner Inconsistency: Re-level all points twice - adjustments affect adjacent corners
  • Center Too High/Low: Check for bed warping, consider manual mesh leveling
  • Z-offset Changes: Save settings after leveling, check for mechanical play
  • Temperature Effects: Always level at printing temperature for accuracy
  • Paper Thickness: Use consistent paper/card thickness (0.1mm recommended)
  • Bed Springs: Ensure all bed springs are equally compressed (50% recommended)
