Installation Guide

Tools Needed:

  • Hex wrench (included)
  • Spool holder
  • Filament spool (PLA recommended)
  • Level surface
  • USB cable (for firmware updates)

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Unbox and Inspect: Carefully remove all packaging materials and check all components are present and undamaged.
  2. Assemble Spool Holder: Attach the spool holder to the side of the printer using the provided screws and hex wrench.
  3. Load Filament: Insert the filament spool onto the holder and feed the filament into the extruder following the guided path.
  4. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the printer and plug into a grounded electrical outlet.
  5. Level the Build Plate: Use the automatic bed leveling feature or manually level the build plate using the adjustment knobs.
  6. Connect to Network: Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the touchscreen interface.
  7. Test Print: Run the included test print file to verify proper operation and calibration.
Warning: Keep the printer on a stable, level surface away from flammable materials. Always supervise during initial prints.

Key Features

Fully Enclosed Design

The enclosed printing chamber maintains consistent temperature for better print quality with ABS and other temperature-sensitive materials.

Removable Build Plate

Flexible, removable build plate makes print removal easy and reduces risk of damage to prints or the printer bed.

Built-in Camera

Integrated camera allows remote monitoring of prints via the Flashforge mobile app or web interface.

Automatic Bed Leveling

9-point automatic bed leveling ensures perfect first layer adhesion and consistent print quality across the entire build surface.

Filament Runout Detection

Smart sensor detects when filament runs out and pauses the print, allowing you to resume after reloading.

Cloud Printing

Wi-Fi enabled for remote control via Flashforge Cloud, allowing you to monitor prints, manage files, and control the printer from anywhere.

Printing Technology Explained

FDM Technology

Fused Deposition Modeling melts and extrudes thermoplastic filament layer by layer to create 3D objects.

Direct Drive Extruder

All-metal direct drive extruder provides precise filament control for better print quality with flexible materials.

Heated Build Plate

Maintains optimal temperature for different materials to prevent warping and ensure proper adhesion.

Quiet Operation

Stepper motor drivers and enclosed design reduce operating noise to below 50 dB during normal operation.

Power Recovery

Automatically resumes printing after power interruption, saving time and materials.

Filament Guide Tube

Reduces friction and ensures smooth filament feeding for consistent extrusion.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Printer won't start Power issue, emergency stop engaged Check power supply, ensure emergency stop button is released
Poor print adhesion Bed not level, wrong bed temperature, dirty build surface Re-level bed, adjust temperature, clean with isopropyl alcohol
Filament not extruding Nozzle clogged, extruder gear slipping, filament tangled Clean nozzle, check extruder tension, ensure free filament movement
Layer shifting Belt tension, mechanical obstruction, printing too fast Check belt tension, clear obstructions, reduce print speed
Stringing/oozing Temperature too high, retraction settings incorrect Lower nozzle temperature, adjust retraction distance and speed
Warping Bed temperature too low, cooling too fast, draft Increase bed temperature, use enclosure, avoid drafts

Error Codes

  • E01: Temperature sensor error - Check thermistor connections
  • E02: Heating failed - Check heater cartridge and wiring
  • E03: Over temperature - Allow to cool, check cooling fan
  • E04: Under temperature - Check heating element
  • E05: Filament runout - Reload filament and resume
  • E06: Motor stall - Check for obstructions, reduce speed
  • E07: Communication error - Restart printer, check cables
